Ron Gerber's production work from 640 WRUR-AM and 88.5 WRUR-FM, Rochester, New York, from 1986-1990.
This is everything that was included on Ron Gerber's production reel from 640 WRUR-AM and 88.5 WRUR-FM, Rochester, New York, during his undergrad work at the University Of Rochester from 1986-1990. All but one were done with a razor blade and splice tape on 1/4-inch tape, with all but the first few being done at 15 IPS. No noise reduction used at all.
The various screams were taken from a giant set of the BBC Sound Effects LPs. Ron worked at top 40 98PXY in Rochester from January to May, 1990, and nabbed a few of the synth beds from their production library. The voice of the football promos is a WRUR broadcaster named Doug, whose last name Ron can't recall. Ron wishes to thank fellow WRUR broadcasters and engineers for their valuable guidance and assistance over the years, including Dan Luna, Phil Rubenstein, Dan Duperron, Marc Spencer, Matt Armata, Adam Konowe, Adam Boardman, John Andres, and many others.
Transferred from the 1/4-inch tape reel to digital in June, 1997. Cleaned up and uploaded in April, 2010.
Ron would later host the long-running radio program, "Crap From The Past", heard first on WRUR from January to May, 1992, then again from January, 1996 to June, 1997. The show continues to the present day on KFAI-FM/Minneapolis.
